Carnegie Mellon Launches New Stackable Credentials in Product Management and Innovation


Together with e-learning pioneer iDesign, the university will launch a new suite of online courses and degrees focused on the unique intersection of business, design and engineering

PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania. (FEBRUARY 8, 2022) – Carnegie Mellon University’s Institute for Embedded Innovation has launched a suite of new online offerings to meet growing demand for product management, design and innovation among product designers and services, technologists and business leaders. Built with the expertise of expert professors and practitioners spanning the fields of design, business, and engineering, these stackable credentials will help professionals grow and develop the skills needed to advance in careers in product management, in strategy and innovation.

The list of new online offerings includes four certificates in Product Design Innovation, Product Management Technology, Product Innovation Methods and Tools, and New Product Management. These certificates can be taken in any order, giving professionals the flexibility to choose a learning structure that progresses at the desired pace, providing a balance between their studies and career. A final capstone experience allows holders of all four certificates to earn an online master’s degree in integrated innovation for products and services.

To help meet the demand for continuing and graduate-level education in these areas, the university selected iDesign, which has worked with more than 100 institutions to design, create and support award-winning online courses. A team of seasoned iDesign instructional designers and educators will work with program leaders, administrators and faculty experts from across the College to design and develop the online courses for the new stackable certificate suite.
