Q-Ctrl selects Shih to lead product management

Quantum control infrastructure software specialist Q-Ctrl has appointed Alex Shih as Product Manager.

“Alex’s consumer and enterprise expertise will help us deliver Q-Ctrl’s powerful quantum computing and quantum sensing capabilities to the widest range of end users, regardless of skill level. of experience,” said Q-Ctrl Founder and CEO, Professor Michael J. Biercuk.

“His addition to the team highlights the true product focus we have at Q-Ctrl, where we know building technology isn’t enough – we really need to delight our users by helping them achieve their ambitions.”

Shih joins the company from Slack, where he was Technical Product Manager.

He has also worked as a developer at Airbnb, director of product and ecosystem at Planet Labs, senior director of mobile products at Twitter, and director of strategic partner programs at Google.

Shih is also a board member of Interserve and founder of Karibu.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Cornell University and a master’s degree in engineering and management from MIT Sloan School of Management.

“Getting from large traditional Silicon Valley companies to a fast-moving quantum software company brings new challenges and exciting opportunities that I look forward to in this new role,” Shih said.

“I am inspired by the potential of quantum technology to revolutionize computing and accelerate resource-intensive applications and use cases across industries. My goal is to leverage my experience in creating and updating the scale of products from various fields to deliver real value to our customers, from speed of delivery to performance gains to cost savings, which is simply not possible with alternative technologies.”

Shih continued, “Producing the user experience for Q-Ctrl’s technology will unlock the potential for our customers to solve complex and meaningful challenges, from new drug discovery to optimizing logistics to climate change mitigation, and I really hope to inspire others to join the field. .
