RMS Appoints New Head of Model Product Management

RMS has appointed Julie Serakos as Head of Model Product Management.

The modeling and solutions company said Serakos will be responsible for global model product management for all climate, climate change, earthquake and emerging hazard models. She will also oversee global government and regulatory affairs.

According to RMS, Serakos joins BMS Re where she led the catastrophe analysis team for more than ten years, providing catastrophe analysis for reinsurance design, pricing and marketing. Prior to that, she spent 14 years at Willis Re as an executive vice president in various disaster management roles.

Serakos is executive director of the International Society of Catastrophe Managers, where she chairs the Credentials Committee. She also oversees the development of the Certified Disaster Risk Management Specialist (CSCR) and Certified Disaster Risk Management Professional (CCRMP) exams, as well as reviewing applications for the Industry Experienced Career Pathway ( EIP).

Curiously, Serakos’ appointment comes days after RMS announced it was expanding its suite of climate change models to help customers strategically assess the short- and long-term impacts of climate change.

The company said at the time that the new RMS climate change models will complement the existing suite launched in 2021, including the Europe Flood, Europe Windstorm and North Atlantic Hurricane climate change models.

Using RMS models, customers will be able to simulate the effects of climate change on four greenhouse gas concentration trajectories (called representative concentration pathways or RCPs) at any time between 2020 and 2100. Serakos was cited in this article.
